Datadog MCP Connector

Connect Sazabi to Datadog through MCP to browse metrics, logs, and traces.

The Datadog MCP connector lets Chat browse metrics, logs, and traces in your Datadog account. This is different from the Datadog backend, which lets Sazabi query your existing Datadog data directly.

About the Datadog MCP connector

The Datadog MCP connector gives Chat read-only access to your Datadog account. With this connector, Chat can:

  • Browse metrics and dashboards
  • View logs and traces
  • Access monitor status and history
  • Review incident details

Prerequisites

Before connecting Datadog via MCP, make sure you have:

  • A Sazabi account with admin permissions.
  • A Datadog account with API access enabled.

Connecting Datadog

Open MCP Connectors

Go to Settings -> MCP Connectors in the Sazabi dashboard.

Select Datadog

Find Datadog in the list of available connectors and click Connect.

Authorize access

You will be redirected to Datadog to authorize Sazabi. Review the requested permissions and click Authorize.

Verify connection

After authorization, you will be returned to Sazabi. The Datadog connector should show as connected with available tools listed.

Available tools

Once connected, the Datadog MCP connector provides read-only tools to Chat for:

  • Browsing metrics and dashboards
  • Viewing logs and traces
  • Checking monitor status
  • Reviewing incidents and events

Usage examples

With the Datadog MCP connector, you can ask Sazabi to:

Check the status of our critical monitors
Show me API latency metrics from the last hour
Find logs related to the checkout service

Backend vs connector

Sazabi supports Datadog as both a backend and a connector:

Both provide read-only access. The backend queries data directly, while the connector uses MCP tools for browsing.

Troubleshooting

Connection failed

If the OAuth flow fails:

  1. Verify you have API access enabled in your Datadog account.
  2. Check that your Datadog plan supports the features you need.
  3. Try disconnecting and reconnecting.

Tools not available

If Datadog tools are not appearing:

  1. Go to Settings -> MCP Connectors and verify Datadog shows as connected.
  2. Check that tools are listed under the Datadog connection.
  3. Try disconnecting and reconnecting to refresh the tool list.
